Rumours say the iPhone 18 Pro will have a revamped Dynamic Island Unsplash

Rumours on Apple's 2026 release, the iPhone 18 pro, have been circulating online, particularly the dynamic island's highly anticipated major overhaul. The Dynamic Island made its debut in 2022 on the iPhone 14 Pro, replacing the standard notch in older iPhone models.

This fall, sources say the Dynamic Island on the iPhone 18 Pro will have a different aesthetic altogether. Recent leaks show the Dynamic Island moving to the top left, a major shift in the iPhone's standard design which places it right in the centre. The front-facing camera is also re-positioned to the top-left, resulting in a neater appearance, per an Apple Insider report.

Since iPhone 14, users have not seen any changes to the Dynamic Island. The hype over its major redesign stems from everyone's desire for less obstruction on the iPhone screen and a design:utility balance not just for a sleeker, more modern look, but also for better in-game and video experiences.

The New Dynamic Island - Analysts' Reports

The report also shared that YouTube personality Jon Prosser's leak on the iPhone 18 Pro indicated that Apple has opted for an under-display Face ID system which means minimised display cutouts. In Prosser's illustration, the iPhone 18 Pro's Dynamic Island change could look like a small round dot around the camera.

Technology insider Ice Universe, whose insights are recognised globally, shared on X (formerly Twitter) a leak on the Dynamic Island revamp, 'The Dynamic Island cutout width on the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max has been reduced from 20.76 mm to 13.49 mm, representing a reduction of approximately 35%.'

However, also a popular leaker, Instant Digital, posted on Weibo that a Face ID element potentially re-positioned led to the misinterpretations of a hole-punch camera on the top-left, and that he meant only the infrared sensor would be on the left side on the iPhone 18 Pro.

In a Tom's Guide report, the iPhone 18 Pro is rumoured to also feature a chipset that's more powerful than the iPhone 17 family. The report also stated a potential price increase in the iPhone 18 series relative to worldwide RAM price hikes, although other sources expect this to be true only in higher storage models.

Apple Inc. is also rumoured to scale back on the two-tone aesthetic for the iPhone 18 Pro with a more transparent finish, to make it easier to distinguish from the iPhone 17 Pro, and that the newest iPhone will come in three colourways: burgundy, brown, and purple—entirely different from iPhone 17's orange, silver, and blue.

An upgrade on the iPhone's camera sensor won't be arriving this year with the iPhone 18 Pro, as it is expected to feature the 48MP back and 18MP front-facing cameras. The Camera Control button could be facing a refinement with the iPhone 18 Pro. Furthermore, Apple Inc. is expected to include an A20 Pro chipset and Apple's C2 Modem. The iPhone Air and iPhone 16e currently use the earlier C1 and C1X modems.

Leaks are pouring in about the features and specifications of the iPhone 18 Pro, and users can't wait until its release in September. Until then, speculations can only be made, even by notable leakers and tech insiders. Users can only hope the parts of the leaks they wish were true with the iPhone 18 Pro are applied by Apple.
