Overview

The Sunrisers are having a great run in this edition of the IPL after winning the two nail-biting encounter, the first one being against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the super over and the second one over their recent opponents, Pune Warriors India (PWI). Hyderabad's spinner Amit Mishra's hat trick in the penultimate over helped them to win their last game by 11 runs.

The hosts are currently enjoying a great run in this year's IPL as they have lost two of their six games played this season. The Sunrisers are third in the league table with eight points after six games and are level on points with first place Rajasthan Royals and the Bangalore side who are second in the table.

Cameron White is likely to lead the Hyderabad side against Punjab on Friday leaving aside Sri Lankan keeper Kumar Sangakkara, who was rested for in the previous game against PWI.

Meanwhile, the Punjab side come into this game with a victory over the reigning champions Kolkata Knight Riders in their last fixture. Adam Gilchrist's side went on to put on a total of 157 on board. Pacer Manpreet Gony scored a quick knock of 42 from 20 deliveries helped Kings XI to post a defendable total after the Knight Riders' spinner Sunil Narine's hat trick rattled Punjab's top order.

The visitors are currently in the lower half of the table with just two wins this season. However, on the other hand, Punjab has played only four games and are sixth in the league table with four points from four games.

Team News

Quinton de Kock is likely to retain his position in the side despite failing to fire against PWI. Dale Steyn along with Ishant Sharma will lead the bowling attack while White will have a huge responsibility to contribute with the bat. The Sunrisers' middle order does not contain any star players except by the likes of Sri Lankan all rounder Thisara Perera, who has been exceptional this season.

Punjab, on the other hand will be hoping their skipper, Gilchrist to fire on Friday. Mandeep Singh, who scored a brilliant knock of 41 against Kolkata is likely to open the batting along with the former Australian keeper. Praveen Kumar will lead the visitors bowling attack while all rounder Azhar Mahmood will have a huge role of contributing with both bat and bowl against the Sunrisers.
