It can be infuriating having to jostle for space on your commute to work, with everyone walking at different speeds, congesting the pathway. No more so is this the case than when you try to get on the tube or catch a train.

Well, for travellers in Utrecht, in the Netherlands, this is no longer a problem thanks to the new Transfer Accelerator. In marketing speak it is an elegant, sleek transport device designed to speed up pedestrian journey times. To normal speak, it is a big slide.

The newly renovated Overvecht station in the city of Utrecht installed the slide to help travellers reach their platform quickly. It is also simply a way to make that mundane journey into work a little more fun.

Designed by HIK Ontwerpers, the slide has already garnered a lot of local attention. The slide has added features at night, playing music by Bach to people nearby.
