Barcelona have defeated Real Madrid 3-1 despite conceding an early goal in the seventh and final "El Clasico" of this year.

The defending champions conceded one of the earliest goals in Clasico history but were able to effectively outclass Jose Mourinho's men at Bernabeu Stadium in Madrid on Saturday. The win has helped Pep Guardiola's squad level on points with Real Madrid and sent them to the top of the Spanish league on goal difference.

Madrid's Karim Benzema has made history by netting one of the quickest goals ever - just 22 seconds into the game. But goals from Alexis Sanchez (on 30 minutes), Xavi (on 53 minutes) and Cesc Fabregas (on 66 minutes) sealed the victory in favour of the Barca.

"We are level on points now but we have a game in hand. If we win at Sevilla (in our next match), we will be the leaders. I think the defeat is a result of what type of game football is," Mourinho has been quoted by Goal.com as saying.
