Overview

World No 6 Nishikori has been one of the more consistent players on the ATP circuit this year and he continued his good form in the second round, thrashing Russia's Andrey Kuznetsov 6-3, 6-3, 6-3. The Japanese international is yet to drop a set so far in the competition, and goes into this game as the favourite. Nishikori has not been rewarded in terms of titles for his performances this season.

It's been a while since Verdasco was seeded at a Grand Slam. At one point ranked No 7 in the world, Verdasco is an unpredictable opponent as his seven ATP titles show. The Spaniard is capable of causing an upset but that looks unlikely considering the form Nishikori is in.
