Overview

Kings XI Punjab are picking up form in the latter stages of the tournament but will still struggle to make the playoff stage of the tournament. Punjab will welcome table toppers Sunrisers Hyderabad — who could move to second place if Gujarat Lions beat Royal Challengers Bangalore on Saturday — to Mohali as they look to make their way up the table.

The Murali Vijay-led team are coming into the game on the back of a morale boosting win over Mumbai Indians, who are yet to settle in their new home in Visakapatnam, and will be keen to make home advantage count and continue their winning run, that has seen them win three of their last five clashes. Marcus Stoinis and Murali Vijay have been leading the way in the bowling and batting departments respectively but will face a tough task against the in-form Sunrisers.

David Warner's team have continued their steady rise in the competition and now find themselves top of the pile going into the final three games of their campaign. After a difficult start, which saw them lose their opening two games, they have turned it around and won seven of their last eight games, which has put them level on points with Gujarat Lions, but are ahead owing to superior run rate.

The Australian has led from the front and is the top run scorer with 515 from 11 matches. Shikhar Dhawan's return to form has been a big boost, while Bhuvaneshwar Kumar and Mustafizur Rahman have been leading the way in the bowling front with 14 and 13 wickets respectively.
