Pop culture icon Kylie Jenner has been criticised for her new reality television show Life of Kylie on E!, after detailing her struggles with fame and keeping up appearances.

The 19-year-old television star appeared a little out of touch with the hardships of the real world in the brand new reality series – a spin-off from the ever-popular Keeping Up with the Kardashians.

On coping with the pressures of global stardom, Kylie is heard telling best pal Jordyn Woods: "I just want to run away."

She candidly spoke about her issues with being well-known, with the teenage entrepreneur telling a therapist: "When you grow up on camera, people feel like they know you."

Kylie has starred on the family show since she was nine years old and has since made her millions with a clothing line with sister Kendall for PacSun, her own cosmetics line Kylie Cosmetics and additional business ventures for the likes of Puma.

She is one of the most followed Instagram stars with 96.3m followers and was this year the youngest person to be featured on Forbes Celebrity 100 list.

Feeling a bit sorry for herself, Kylie also said in the premiere episode: "I for sure didn't choose this life – but I'm not going to say I'm not keeping up this lifestyle."

"I don't like all the attention because it reminds me I'm Kylie f****n Jenner'."

The little sister of Kim Kardashian – who is famed for her lip fillers and shapely physique – also claimed that she wanted to try out therapy "to just figure out where I want to go in life."

The teen's attitude towards her privileged lifestyle didn't exactly go down a storm with viewers, with many taking to Twitter to express their frustration.

One person wrote: "guys I'm embarrassed I watched #LifeofKylie bc it was just Kylie complaining about being "over fame"...on her new TV show."

Another put: "love Kylie but she just said "I didn't get to grow up normal it's just so hard"...well paying bills is hard we can switch lol #LifeofKylie"

A third added: "'I've never worn a prom dress' honey you wore a gown at a met gala I'd love to switch if you want a prom dress so bad #LifeofKylie"

Others posted hilarious memes about the show and Kylie's outlook on life, check a few of them out below.

The eight-part series is set to follow the life of the reality star as she deals with running a business while maintaining a 'normal' life and her close friendship with Woods.

In a statement about getting her own series, she noted: "The last couple years have been such an incredible journey with the support of my fans.

"This show will allow me to give them a peek inside all of the exciting things I am working on as well as some personal time with friends."
