Barcelona's long wait for another Champions League trophy could end with Lamine Yamal leading their attack, according to Ian Joy in a prediction shared on X on Tuesday, 13 October.

The 19-year-old winger has been backed to win multiple Champions League titles during his career, raising hopes that Barcelona could finally reclaim the European crown they last lifted in 2015.

'He Will Win Many Champions Leagues'

Discussing Yamal's potential, Joy expressed confidence that the Spanish international would eventually become a multiple European champion.

'Lamine Yamal will win many Champions Leagues. I have no doubt about it,' Joy said.

The prediction reflects growing expectations surrounding a player who has already established himself as one of Barcelona's most important attacking figures. However, it remains a forecast about Yamal's career rather than a guarantee that Barcelona will win the competition.

For supporters, the possibility of their teenage star helping end the club's European drought offers an especially compelling prospect.

Barcelona Have Waited Since 2015

Barcelona's fifth and most recent Champions League triumph came on 6 June 2015, when they defeated Juventus 3-1 in Berlin.

Ivan Rakitić, Luis Suárez and Neymar scored as Luis Enrique's side completed a historic treble alongside their La Liga and Copa del Rey victories. That team featured Lionel Messi, Xavi, Andrés Iniesta and Sergio Busquets, players whose achievements established an extraordinary standard for future generations.

More than a decade later, Barcelona are still searching for their sixth European crown. The club has continued collecting domestic honours, including the 2025-26 La Liga title under Hansi Flick, but success in Europe's leading club competition has remained elusive.

Yamal's emergence offers a potential route towards changing that record.

Why Yamal Inspires Such Confidence

At just 19, Yamal has already achieved milestones that many footballers never experience throughout their careers.

The winger played a central role in Spain's European Championship triumph in 2024 before becoming a World Cup winner in 2026. Spain defeated Argentina 1-0 in the World Cup final on 19 July, with Ferran Torres scoring the winning goal in extra time.

His development at Barcelona has been equally impressive.

During the 2024-25 campaign, he recorded 18 goals and 21 assists across competitions, helping Flick's team secure a domestic treble. He subsequently contributed to another league-winning season, sharing the Zarra Trophy with Ferran Torres after both scored 16 La Liga goals in 2025-26.

Yamal also registered 11 league assists that season and was named La Liga's player of the season. Those achievements underline why expectations surrounding his future continue to grow.

Nevertheless, individual brilliance alone cannot guarantee Champions League success. Barcelona must also demonstrate defensive consistency, squad depth and the ability to perform against Europe's strongest opponents.

Can Barcelona Build Another European Dynasty?

The prospect of Yamal winning several Champions League titles invites comparisons with Barcelona's most successful generation.

Messi won four European Cups with the club, while Barcelona secured three Champions League trophies between 2009 and 2015.

Replicating that dominance would require sustained excellence over several seasons rather than one exceptional campaign. For now, the prediction remains an expression of confidence in Yamal's remarkable potential.

But for Barcelona supporters who have waited since 2015, the prospect of another European triumph with Yamal at the centre is becoming an increasingly compelling ambition.
