Lindsay Lohan has been left shocked and unnerved after a mystery man paid a visit to her Los Angeles home on New Year's Day evening, a new report has said.

According to TMZ.com, police were called to her Venice Beach mansion after the intruder, described as an older gentleman, knocked on her front door around 0630 in the evening. Upon inquiry, the man reportedly told the 25-year-old actress that he wanted to talk to her.

Lindsay "freaked the hell out" when the intruder refused to leave, the report has noted.

Police arrived on the scene minutes later and arrested the man for trespassing. He was shifted to a local police station, the website has said.

Lohan attracted worldwide attention recently after her nude photographs taken for Playboy magazine had been leaked out on the internet well before the magazine hit the stands.

The controversial actress, who is on probation, also got some favourable remarks from a Los Angeles Superior Court Judge during her recent court appearance.
