Christina Aguilera Addresses 'Unrecognisable' Rumours While Defending Her View on Cosmetic Enhancements

Christina Aguilera drew renewed attention in Monaco on 18 September after attending the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation's 20th-anniversary gala at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. Social media discussion about the singer's appearance followed the event, including unsupported speculation about cosmetic procedures and weight-loss medication.

Aguilera was among the performers at the anniversary gala, held at the Salle Garnier. The event marked two decades of the foundation's environmental work and also featured performances by Plácido Domingo and Sister Sledge.

The singer appeared in a floor-length black Versace gown with silver embellishment around the neckline. However, some online discussion moved away from the event itself and towards comparisons between recent and older photographs of Aguilera.

Some social media users described Aguilera as looking different from earlier images, while internet personality Oli London shared comparison photographs and referred to speculation about Ozempic and weight loss.

Those claims remain unverified. Aguilera has not publicly confirmed using Ozempic in connection with the latest discussion, and photographs cannot establish whether a person has used a particular medication or undergone a cosmetic procedure.

Other users challenged the assumptions behind the comparisons and argued that perceived changes in someone's appearance can have many explanations.

That distinction is important because online commentary about a person's face or body can quickly turn into assertions about medical treatment without supporting evidence. Describing a celebrity as looking different does not, by itself, prove the use of weight-loss drugs, cosmetic surgery or any other intervention.

Aguilera also has not directly responded to the latest social media claims about her Monaco appearance. Her previous comments about aesthetic treatments therefore should not be presented as an answer to the current speculation.

Christina Aguilera Previously Discussed Cosmetic Injectables

Aguilera has, however, spoken publicly about cosmetic injectables in the past. In a 2023 interview with Allure, conducted in connection with her work with Merz Aesthetics and Xeomin, she discussed her approach to aesthetic treatments and said she did not believe people should be judged for seeking help with their appearance.

'I think we all can rely on a little help. Why not?' Aguilera told the magazine.

Xeomin is a brand of botulinum toxin injectable used cosmetically to temporarily improve the appearance of certain facial lines. Aguilera's comments in the interview concerned injectables and her preference for results that still allowed her face to remain expressive.

That was particularly important to her as a performer. Aguilera told Allure that she has 'a very expressive face' and wanted the emotion in her performances to remain visible. She also said she did not want a 'stoic, still face' while singing.

The interview did not amount to a disclosure of every cosmetic treatment Aguilera may or may not have received. Allure reported that, through a Merz representative, she declined to discuss previous injections or cosmetic procedures outside Xeomin.

That limitation is significant in light of the latest online discussion. Aguilera's documented openness about one type of cosmetic injectable does not confirm broader claims about surgery, weight-loss medication or other procedures.

Her earlier remarks instead reflected a wider view that decisions about aesthetic treatments are personal. She also emphasised that any treatment she chose needed to preserve the facial movement central to her work on stage.

The Monaco appearance has again placed Aguilera's looks under public scrutiny, but the verified record remains narrower than some social media posts suggest. She has previously discussed Xeomin and cosmetic injectables, while the latest theories about her appearance remain unsupported by evidence or a direct statement from Aguilera.
