Liverpool are interested in signing Barcelona forward Cristian Tello in the summer, according to the Daily Mirror. The 20 year old has enjoyed an impressive debut season at the Camp Nou - scoring seven goals in 21 appearances in all competitions. However, the Catalan club are keen to loan the Spanish prodigy out next season so he can get more first-team action and continue his development.

Atletico Madrid and Valencia are also reportedly interested in Tello and they hope the home country advantage will help them close the deal. Meanwhile, Valencia goalkeeper Vicente Guaita is attracting the attention of Barcelona, according to Goal.com.

The Catalans are believed to have drawn up a shortlist of goalkeepers as they look for an experienced pair of hands to provide competition to Victor Valdes and having searched for months, the Barca scouting network have earmarked Guaita as the top candidate.

The 25 year old has established himself as a vital cog in the Valencia squad since making his debut in 2008. The keeper's stellar performances this season have been instrumental in the club ensuring a Champions League spot. Guaita has three years remaining on his deal at the Mestalla.

In other news, it is understood that Barcelona captain Carles Puyol is expected to miss Spain's squad for the 2012 European Championships, due to a knee injury. The 34 year old is a major doubt for the summer's tournament after the Spanish giants confirmed he will be sidelined for at least six weeks after undergoing surgery to overcome the issue. He is set to have another surgery next week and will also miss the Copa del Rey final against Athletic Bilbao on 25 May.

"After tests were conducted it was decided the player would have arthroscopic surgery next Saturday, May 12," read a statement on Barcelona's official Web site.

Spain, who are one of the favourites to win the Championships, are scheduled to face Italy on 10 June in their first clash in Group C. Ireland and Croatia are the other two teams in the group.
