A computer programmer has created a stunning video that shows the amount of London Underground journeys made in just one day.

Will Gallia, a 26-year-old from London, spent three years creating the data visualisation which shows 562,145 people travelling across the network from a 5% sample of Oyster card journeys during one week in 2009. Each dot on the map represents one journey made across the 11 underground lines in London.

Gallia explained his idea for the two-minute video on his blog. "This project was started in 2012, but wasn't finished until 2015. The idea was to visualise real London Underground data on the tube map was we know it," he wrote.
