Mad Max: Fury Road director George Miller recently spoke about the film's much-talked about sequel teasing some production updates on that front. Going by what he said, we suggest you don't hold your breath for it.

"Yes, I have [zeroed in on the storyline for the sequel]. And certainly [I'm] having conversations about it [with the studio]," Miller told Entertainment Weekly before revealing that it might take a while before fans get to see this sequel on screen.

"I'm not sure if it's the very next movie I want to do. I've got something a bit smaller before we go back out into the wasteland — something that's contemporary that we can get through fairly quickly. And something with not too much technical difficulty. Something more performance-based and so on, just to clear the exhaust."

Talking about the breakout character of the film, Furiosa (played by Charlize Theron), Miller teased a film based on her backstory but it's unclear if that's his plan for the sequel.

"She's a pretty compelling character so it would be great to tell her story. Her backstory is really interesting. We only allude to it in this movie (Mad Max: Fury Road) because this movie is on the run; people don't have much time for recreational talk [but] she's got an interesting story."

Meanwhile, Miller's statement regarding his plans to direct a smaller, "performance-based" movie before the Mad Max sequel also puts to rest rumours about him possibly directing Man of Steel 2 for Warner Bros... at least, for now.
