President Donald Trump's handshake technique was once again pulled into the spotlight after he shared an awkwardly long handshake with French President Emmanuel Macron that lasted nearly 30 seconds. As they departed a military parade during Bastille Day celebrations in Paris on Friday (14 July), Trump and Macron gripped each other's hands and continued to chat and walk hand-in-hand.

Walking down the Champs-Élysées, Trump patted Macron's hand before he seemed to tug Macron towards him.

Macron then put one hand on Trump's shoulder before the handshake evolved into a form of bro handshake as they shook their joined fists from side to side.

Trump later puts one hand on Macron's chest before reaching out to bring in French First Lady Brigitte Macron in for a weird three-person handshake while bidding goodbye.

Although this isn't the first intense handshake between the two leaders, the latest lengthy one immediately triggered a slew of jokes, comments and cringes on Twitter.

"Watching Trump and Macron shake hands for thirty seconds is highly uncomfortable", one Twitter user wrote. Another chimed: "Did you stop shaking Macron's hand before your return, or did he have to fly back with you?"

Comedian Michael Ian Black tweeted: "I've never had sex for as long as Trump and Macron shook hands".

"You are turning the United States into a laughing stock", one person tweeted.
