Mark Ruffalo blasts Kevin O'Leary in a sharp social media retort, telling the Shark Tank investor to 'STFU' following his criticism of Billie Eilish's anti-ICE acceptance speech at the recent Grammys.

The actor, known for his role as the Hulk, highlighted what he called a 'fantasy double standard' in O'Leary's behaviour, pointing out the businessman's own frequent political commentary while decrying Eilish's. This spat reflects ongoing debates about the role of celebrities in political discourse.

Eilish's Bold Grammys Statement

The 68th Annual Grammy Awards, held on 1 February 2026 at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, saw Billie Eilish and her brother Finneas O'Connell triumph in the song of the year category for 'Wildflower' from her 2024 album Hit Me Hard and Soft.

During her acceptance speech, Eilish made a passionate plea against immigration enforcement, stating 'No one is illegal on stolen land' before exclaiming 'Fuck ICE' – a reference to the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement agency that was censored on the CBS broadcast.

Several other artists echoed her sentiments: Bad Bunny and Shaboozey also voiced anti-ICE views, making it a recurring theme of the night. Eilish further encouraged fans to 'keep fighting and speaking up and protesting.' While the speech struck a chord with progressives, it attracted backlash from conservative commentators.

O'Leary's Rebuke and Controversial Past

Responding on Fox Business, Kevin O'Leary, known as Mr Wonderful on Shark Tank, admonished Eilish and similar celebrities, urging them to 'shut your mouth' on political matters to prevent alienating half their fanbase. He described it as a 'basic lesson' in entertainment.

The Canadian entrepreneur, who briefly pursued politics in his home country, is no stranger to airing his opinions on a wide array of topics. Of particular note are his July 2025 remarks on CNN regarding the Jeffrey Epstein files, where he asserted 'Nobody gives a damn about Epstein' and insensitively speculated 'Maybe they were raped, maybe they weren't.'

During that panel, he further argued that if people truly cared about the victims, they would not 'drag them back into the limelight.'

These statements have sparked ongoing speculation about O'Leary's unwillingness to engage deeply with Epstein-related inquiries, with some suggesting it hints at deeper concerns.

Ruffalo Leads the Counterattack

In defence of Eilish, Ruffalo posted on Threads: 'Kevin O'Leary why don't you STFU. It's hilarious. You will go on any show and talk shit about any number of things and smugly expect us to listen to you, but you will dig into a real artist that dwarfs anything you dream of doing for actually saying something that resonates with 100's of millions of people the world over.'

He added that O'Leary's double standard was 'astounding.' Finneas O'Connell joined the fray, lambasting 'very powerful old white men' outraged by his sister's words and pointedly remarking 'We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.' The responses drew applause from those who appreciate celebrities using their platforms for advocacy.

The feud illustrates the stark divide between progressive Hollywood figures and conservative business personalities regarding free speech in the public sphere. O'Leary has yet to address Ruffalo's barbs directly, though the online conversation rages on. Users on X have resurfaced O'Leary's earlier Epstein comments, using them to underscore perceived hypocrisy in his stance.
