Captain America: Civil War will be the most anticipated film to hit threatres in the US, but there are many more movies that will release in May in North America. Films like X-Men: Apocalypse, Neighbors 2 and Nice Guys will also be premiering this month.

Captain America Civil War: Release date 6 May

The Joe and Anthony Russo-directed film will see Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson in action. The Avengers will be divided in two teams – Team Captain America and Team Iron Man – over the government's decision to take control of the superheroes.

Other movies releasing on 6 May include Mothers And Daughters, Being Charlie and Elstree 1976.

Money Monster: Release date 13 May

The movie has been directed by Jodie Foster. The cast includes George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O'Connell. After losing his money on stocks, an investor played by Jack O'Connell holds a Wall Street guru (George Clooney) and producer (Julia Roberts) hostage on live television.

The Darkness:

The Greg McLean-directed movie starring Kevin Bacon, Jennifer Morrison and Lucy Fry will see a family return from vacation to Grand Canyon only to find themselves terrorised by supernatural forces.

High-Rise:

The Ben Wheatley-directed movie's cast includes Tom Hiddleston, Jeremy Irons and Luke Evans. A doctor, played by Tom Hiddleston, moves into a skyscraper where residents run out of control following rise in tensions.

A Bigger Splash:

The movie has been directed by Luca Guadagnino. The cast includes Tilda Swinton, Ralph Fiennes and Dakota Johnson. While on vacation a famous rock star and a filmmaker receives an unexpected visit from an old friend (Ralph Fiennes) and his seductive daughter.

May 13 also sees The Lobster, Love & Friendship, Last Days in the Desert, Search Party, Dheepan, Sunset Song and What We Become hit theatres in the US.

Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising:

Nicholas Stoller-directed movie's cast includes Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne and Chloe Moretz. In the movie, Mac (Seth Rogen) and pregnant wife Kelly (Rose Byrne) ask former enemy Teddy Sanders (Zac Efron) for help after a sorority moves in next door.

The Nice Guys:

The movie has been directed by Shane Black. The cast includes Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling and Kim Basinger. A private eye (Ryan Gosling) and hired enforcer (Russell Crowe) investigate the disappearance of a girl and a death of a porn star in 1970s Los Angeles and uncover a conspiracy.

Angry Birds:

Clay Kaytis-directed movie stars Peter Dinklage, Jason Sudeikis and Kate McKinnon. The birds' island is visited by mysterious green piggies. It will be up to three outcasts - Red, Chuck and Bomb - to figure the piggies plans.

The movies Maggie's Plan and Holy Hell will also be releasing on the same day.

X-Men: Apocalypse

X-Men: Apocalypse has been directed by Bryan Singe. The cast of the movie includes Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy and Jennifer Lawrence. Young X-Men recruits led by Mystique will be fighting the world's first mutant Apocalypse and his four horsemen, who are looking to cleanse the world of humans so they can rule instead.

The movies Chevalier and Alice Through the Looking Glass will also be releasing on the same day.
