Freeman iPad Painting
Believe it or not, this is not a photograph (Kyle Lambert/YouTube)

What you see is not a photograph of famous actor Morgan Freeman but a finger painting generated on an iPad Air by hyperrealist artist Kyle Lambert.

The artist has become famous for his iPad paintings of celebrities such as Rihanna, Beyonce and Jennifer Aniston.

Speaking to Mashable, Lambert said that he toiled over this striking Morgan Freeman piece for a month using the iPad app Procreate.

"It captures every brush stroke automatically and you can export it to the camera roll," Lambert said. "It has the best canvas size and ... video export. It's the most like Photoshop."

Lambert, a UK-based artist, revealed that the secret to painting such realistic images is the amount of time and dedication put into a piece.

"There is no real 'secret' to painting realistic images," he said. "It is all about going that extra mile and spending time on each and every area of your image. ... The most important thing is to spend more time looking at what you are painting and less time presuming."

His iPad masterpiece is based on a portrait of Freeman by photographer Scott Gries. Check out the photo below, can you spot any differences?
