Honda rider Marc Marquez secured his team's fifth Barcelona MotoGP pole position in six years, registering the fastest time in the qualifying session of the Barcelona Grand Prix on 4 June. The Spaniard finished ahead of fellow countryman and favourite Jorge Lorenzo.

Qualifying review

Marquez gave fellow countryman Jorge Lorenzo something to think about, storming to the pole position at the Barcelona MotoGP. The Honda rider clocked a lap time of 1:43.89s putting him 0.547 seconds ahead of Yamaha's Lorenzo who finished in second place.

Dani Pedrosa finished in the third place while seven-time champion Valentino Rossi fought back after a poor start, jumping from ninth to fifth displacing pacesetter Maverick Vinales who performed brilliantly during Free Practice session one.
