NBC's "New Amsterdam" season 2 premiere is a week away, and fans are eagerly waiting for the season to resolve the mystery behind the fate of three major characters of the series.

"New Amsterdam," the American medical drama that premiered in September 2018, ended with a massive cliffhanger. It showed the fatal ambulance crash that was carrying Max, Georgia, Luna, Dr. Sharpe, and Dr. Bloom. While it was made clear that Max and Georgia have survived the crash, the fate of others remains unclear. And then, there was someone covered by a white sheet. Meanwhile, Dr. Helen remains missing from the scene.

When "New Amsterdam" season 2 premieres next week, fans can expect to find out about their favourite doctors' conditions, after the crash. However, it is certain that not everyone survives the crash.

Speaking with TV Insider "New Amsterdam" executive producer David Schulner revealed that "there is more than one fatality." That's right! There could be more than one person's life on the line when the show returns.

As per the report, even though other characters have come out of the collision alive, doesn't mean they are not in danger anymore. The aftermath of the collision is yet to be unravelled.

"New Amsterdam" season 2 picks up three months after the accident. Therefore, expect to witness revealing flashbacks detailing the aftermath of the accident.

At the same time, Max's health remains a cause of concern for many. Nevertheless, the executive producer promises an update on Max's condition as soon as the season opens.

"The first shot is going to tell you a lot about where Max is with his cancer," Schulner said. In addition, he revealed that a new oncologist Valentina Castro played by Ana Villafañe, with the help of his cutting-edge approach make a difference. Max will remain the center of the season 2 as he tries "to find the light again in the job. He'll find his joy."

According to the official synopsis for "New Amsterdam" Season 2 Episode 1 titled "Your Turn" as published on Spoiler TV, Max will struggle with the aftermath of the accident and the birth of his daughter. Meanwhile, Dr. Kapoor will deal with stereotypes associated with aging.
