Newcastle United will begin life in the Championship away to Fulham in the opening game of the 2016-17 Football League season.

Rafa Benitez's side kick off at Craven Cottage on Friday 5 August, while Norwich City and Aston Villa, also relegated from the top flight last season, take on Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield Wednesday in their openers.

Leeds United begin life under Garry Monk away to Queens Park Rangers.

League One champions Wigan Athletic begin their season against Bristol City. Burton Albion, whose remarkable rise in English football saw them promoted to the Championship last season, begin against Nottingham Forest.

In League One, Bolton Wanderers welcome Sheffield United to the Macron Stadium in their first fixture in the third tier of English football. AFC Wimbledon, promoted from League Two last season, take on MK Dons in their first league meeting on 10 December.
