Where to Watch Live

Kick-off is at 12:45pm GMT. Live coverage is on BT Sport 1. Radio commentary of the match will be available on BBC Radio 5 Live. Catch the highlights of the game on Match of the Day on BBC One and BBC One HD at 10:20pm GMT.

Overview

Newcastle are high on confidence as they continued their impressive run against Premier League champions Manchester City. The Tyneside club knocked out the Citizens of the Capital One Cup in the fourth round earlier this midweek.

Goals from Rolando Aarons and Moussa Sissoko saw Alan Pardew's side register a victory over City at the Etihad to make it to the quarter finals of the Capital One Cup. Newcastle are on a three-match unbeaten run and they would be hoping to get a result when they face Liverpool on Saturday.

In the last three games, Newcastle have improved defensively as they have conceded only one goal and scored five times in the process.

Meanwhile, Liverpool also qualified for the last eight of the Capital One Cup after coming from behind to win the tie 2-1 against Swansea City at Anfield. Summer signings Mario Balotelli and Dejan Lovren were on the scoresheet.

Rodgers would be looking for a win against Newcastle as a victory would lift the mood in the Reds' camp before they travel to Spain to face defending champions Real Madrid in the Champions League clash next midweek.

What Managers Say

Alan Pardew: "I think I know Brendan well enough to know how they will play, but I think we can surprise them. One thing's for sure - Brendan won't know my team, but I'm confident what his will be."

Brendan Rodgers: "With Daniel out, of course it is a miss, but it is also an opportunity, as we saw the other night. Fabio Borini was excellent, a real threat, and put in a wonderful cross for Mario's goal. And Rickie Lambert, who hasn't had many opportunities, his goals will come. He is working tirelessly every day, he had some nice touches and his goals will come."
