Overview

Relegated Newcastle United welcome Tottenham Hotspur, who are looking for their highest ever finish in the Premier League with the second place just a point away. With the Magpies having been relegated following Sunderland's win over Everton on Tuesday (10 May), they do not have much to play for. Rafael Benitez's team, however, would be keen to win their final top-flight game for at least another year in front of their home fans.

Mauricio Pochettino will be desperate to end a disappointing yet successful season with a win after going mighty close to winning the title. The White Hart Lane has struggled to recapture their form after they were dumped out of the title race by Chelsea, and are coming into this game following a shock loss to Southampton in their last home game. But all the players are keen to finish second, their highest finish, but it will also be their first finish above local rivals Arsenal in 20 years.

What Managers Say

Lee Charnley [MD on future after relegation]: "Rafa and the team must prepare for the final game of the season but after that, please rest assured we will communicate more fully with supporters. We know that supporters want to know what the future holds and will want to hear more from us as soon as possible."

Mauricio Pochettino: We have massive potential and we cannot stop. We need to try to improve every day. It's true now is the end of the season and it's a moment to try and analyse and assess but next season we need to have better mentality and try to improve in all areas - this is our challenge. We need to put the idea in our minds that okay, it was a good season, but we need to be better."
