Riots broke out among shoppers who had camped through the night to get their hands on the new Nike Foamposite Galaxy released on Thursday.

Footage on Youtube, uploaded by Coastie2415, showed police in full riot gear being outside the Foot Locker House of Hoops store in Orlando, Florida.

Fans had camped overnight outside stores across the US in anticipation of the shoes, which cost $220 (£140), but tension boiled over leading fights breaking out.

On Craiglist a user offered a 1996 Cavalier car in exchange for a pair. Others were willing to pay more than $2,000.

Police have not confirmed whether anyone was arrested following the incident. See more footage below (Warning: contains strong language)
