Manuel Pellegrini confirmed his intention to sign a new striker this month - but refused to admit Wilfried Bony is the man he wants to bring to the Etihad Stadium.

The Premier League champions are currently in talks with Swansea over a £27m move for the Ivory Coast international.

Swans manager Garry Monk yesterday confirmed negotiations - insisting Bony will only be allowed to leave the Liberty Stadium if City meet their full asking price.

Pellegrini was more coy about the situation - refusing to confirm his interest in Bony until a deal is in place.
