Overview
Chelsea fans will get their first taste of Antonio Conte when the Blues take on Rapid Vienna in their first pre-season friendly on Saturday. The manager only recently joined the squad following his commitments with Italy at Euro 2016 and will be keen to get the first match under his belt. The Italian would have got an indication of the quality of the players at his disposal and is likely to feature a mixture of youth-team and first-team members.
Conte has retained John Terry as the captain of the side following the club's decision to hand the club legend a one-year contract after initially holding back on the offer. A number of senior players will not be available following their participation in the European Championship finals, which will give a number of youngsters an opportunity to impress the new manager.
The game against Rapid Vienna will be Chelsea's first of five games, which will see them face Liverpool, Real Madrid and AC Milan before the start of the Premier League season. Conte will be keen to give a run out to all the players before making a decision on his team for the 2016/17 campaign.
