Misse Beqiri opens up about her divorce on Real Housewives of Cheshire ITV

Real Housewives of Cheshire star Misse Beqiri has suggested that it was the pressures of her newfound fame and growing apart that led to the break up of her marriage to former Manchester United goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.

The reality television star and model broke down in tears on last night's (10 October) RHOC episode as she revealed why her marriage to the Danish football star, who now plays for Preston North End, broke down.

The couple – who have three-year-old son Julian together – announced their split on 24 August. They released a statement stating "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for their split.

They said at the time: "Because of irreconcilable differences we have taken the difficult decision to live separate lives.

"The care for our son remains the main priority to both of us."

During a girls' holiday to celebrate her 30th birthday in Barcelona, Misse opened up to her new Cheshire pal Dawn Ward, admitting to taking off her wedding ring.

She told her: "Mentally I'm not in a good place, Anders and I are growing apart and we're becoming different people. I am literally holding everything inside me, I feel like I'm going to explode every second."

She added: "I feel tired of trying to fix something that's not working. I feel like I'm crying all the time and I can't anymore. It's so hard because I feel like I'm failing. Why can't I make this work?

"He actually is a nice guy, but we're two different people, we've grown apart. It's difficult but sometimes you have to face it rather than living a lie."

Half Swedish, half Albanian Beqiri tied the knot with Lindegaard in an idyllic beach ceremony in Mauritius in 2014 after a whirlwind romance, and has subsequently appeared in two series of Real Housewives.

Misse discusses her marriage breakdown with Dawn Ward ITV

Monday night's episode saw Misse excited about focusing on her modelling work in the wake of the split. "If I know I can provide for me and Julian that's a big weight off my shoulders," she said.

Many viewers turned to Twitter to hail Misse's friendship with fellow WAG Dawn, with one person tweeting: "Literally adore the friendship between @dawnward4 and @MisseBeqiri_ so different to how it all started," as another added: "Didn't like @MisseBeqiri_ at 1st. Now I love her. So glad she has @dawnward4 to talk to. #RHOCheshire".

Misse and Dawn got off on the wrong foot in the last series upon meeting at Seema Malhotra's fashion show for her clothing brand Forever Unique. In a drunken state, Dawn referred to Misse's facial mole as a "raisin" which has since been forgiven but not forgotten as the pair have built up a substantial friendship.

The Real Housewives of Cheshire continues next Monday at 9pm on ITVBe.
