Real Madrid CF is currently way ahead of their arch-rivals FC Barcelona as far as the La Liga standings are concerned. The grand event of The Best FIFA Football Awards at Teatro Alla Scala in Milan, Italy also saw Los Blancos stepping ahead of the Blaugranas.

FIFA revealed the FIFPro World XI, which included the best players from around the world based on their individual performances last season. In the latest edition of the FIFPro World XI, Four of Real Madrid's players made it into the final list, as compared to only two from the defending La Liga champions.

Among the Madrid footballers to be included in the World XI are Sergio Ramos, Marcelo, Luka Modric and their latest heavyweight signing, Eden Hazard. Ramos secured his spot as the best centre-back alongside Liverpool's Virgil van Dijk. Marcelo was picked as the best left-back and Modric secured his spot and added the achievement to the Ballon d'Or title that he won last year. Hazard was picked for having a spectacular season at Chelsea FC before leaving for the Santiago Bernabeu.

On the other hand, Barca's contribution to the FIFPro World XI stays limited to their talisman Lionel Messi and their new signing Frenkie de Jong. De Jong's spot in the World XI was secured because of his performance for his previous club AFC Ajax during the last season.

All of the players who have been included into the final list of the FIFPro World XI were voted by 23,000 footballers who are affiliated with FIFPro. According to AS, the inclusion of so many Real Madrid players into the final team of the FIFPro World XI is surprising for many. This is because Madrid hardly had a memorable season last year.

On the other hand, apart from the la Liga title victory, Barcelona suffered some traumatic experiences throughout the last season as well. That includes their painful elimination from the UEFA Champions League semi-final. They even lost the Copa del Rey against Valencia CF. However, it was still Real Madrid players and Messi who collected the most votes from the football pundits around the world.

All the Madrid players who made it to the final list of 2019 also appeared in last year's FIFPro World XI. Messi was also a part of last year's World XI. However, de Jong marked his debut in this year's final list.
