Indian superstar Salman Khan's much-awaited movie Kick has been released globally on Friday. However, contrary to the expectations, the movie failed to create the box office magic created by Shahrukh Khan's Chennai Express.

On its opening day, the Bollywood hunk's super thief thriller collected Rs 26.40 cr in India but failed to reach any closer to King Khan's Chennai Express, which collected Rs 33.12 cr on its first day.

The much-hyped action thriller from the Dabangg star was expected to have an earth shattering opening as its trailer promised the movie to be a great entertainment package with the superficial stunts and good song and dance numbers.

However, the movie immensely impressed Salman fans, who are rating the movie as his best ever.

"Despite pre-Eid period + working day, #Kick opens to PHENOMENAL numbers. Fri Rs 26.40 cr+ nett. India biz. Note:- Early estimates", tweets Indian movie critic Taran Adarsh.

Producer Sajid Nadiadwala's directorial debut is also doing brilliant business in other countries including Middle East.

"Kick has AWESOME start in UAE. Collects $ 272,000 [Rs 1.63 cr] from 68 screens on Thu. Several screens yet to report. SUPERB," tweets Taran.

The letdown is also attributed to low screen counts as certain regional movies are doing good business, preventing Kick to grab more theatres.

Industry experts also predict that the movie will bounce back on Eid to turn over its box office performance as it was released on a non holiday.
