What Happened to Noah? Search for Missing 3-Year-Old Boy Continues in Brantham

A major search is continuing in Brantham, Suffolk, for three-year-old Noah Woods, who disappeared after becoming separated from a relative at a playground on Tuesday afternoon.

According to Suffolk Police, Noah was last seen at around 3:00pm on 15 September near Merriam Close before reportedly running down an alleyway towards a new-build housing estate. Emergency crews and specialist search teams have continued looking for the toddler overnight, while residents have been asked to check gardens, sheds and outbuildings.

As of early Wednesday, 16 September, Suffolk Police continued to list Noah as missing, with its appeal updated shortly after midnight to confirm searches were ongoing.

What Happened to Noah Woods in Brantham?

According to Suffolk Police, Noah had been visiting the small playground at Merriam Close with a relative when the pair became separated as they were leaving. Police said he was reported to have run along the alleyway beside the playground in the direction of the nearby housing estate.

Noah is described by police as white with curly ginger hair. He was wearing a white Bluey T-shirt, shorts and trainers when he disappeared. Authorities have also said he is autistic, non-verbal and partially deaf, meaning he is not expected to respond when his name is called.

However, Superintendent Pete Partridge urged residents to search places around their properties where a small child might have entered or sheltered.

Police have particularly asked people living nearby to check their gardens, sheds and outbuildings and report information that could help locate Noah.

Emergency Services Continue Search for Missing Boy

The disappearance has triggered a large-scale operation involving police, specialist teams and HM Coastguard.

According to reports, Coastguard helicopters were involved as searches continued through Tuesday night. More than 100 members of the public also joined efforts to find Noah after news of his disappearance spread through the community.

Search teams have been examining areas surrounding Merriam Close, including nearby fields and woodland. Police have also used specialist resources as officers try to establish where Noah went after leaving the playground.

Brantham geography also adds to the search challenge. It sits close to the River Stour estuary near the Suffolk–Essex border, with residential streets giving way to fields, woodland and water. Around Merriam Close, footpaths and alleyways also connect established housing with newer developments, creating a varied area for search teams to cover.

The operation has affected transport in the area, with trains between Manningtree and Ipswich instructed to travel at reduced speeds during the search.

Meanwhile, police thanked members of the public for the response but asked people not to conduct uncoordinated searches overnight, stressing that public efforts should be organised alongside officers.

There had been no confirmed public sighting of Noah overnight by the latest official police update. Suffolk Constabulary's missing-person page, updated at 12:51am on Wednesday, continued to state that searches were under way.

Anyone who believes they have seen Noah or has information about his whereabouts has been asked to contact Suffolk Police, quoting CAD 203 of 15 September. The force says information can be provided through 101 or its online reporting service, while anyone with an immediate sighting or emergency information should call 999.

With Noah still missing, the police operation remains active, and authorities are asking residents around Brantham to remain alert and check their properties carefully.
