The angels have flown to Shanghai and preparations are underway for the 2017 Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. With just days left for the year's sexiest lingerie show that sees some of the top models walking the runway, Gigi Hadid has revealed that she won't be a part of this year's line-up.
The 22-year-old model – who made her Victoria's Secret Fashion Show debut in 2015 – took to Twitter to announce she won't be joining her sister Bella and other models at the annual fashion extravaganza in Shanghai, China.
"I'm so bummed I won't be able to make it to China this year," Hadid shared with her seven million-plus followers on Twitter on Thursday, 16 November. "Love my VS family, and will be with all my girls in spirit!! Can't wait to tune in with everyone to see the beautiful show I know it will be, and already can't wait for next year!" she added.
This comes after the model daughter of Yolanda Hadid had confirmed her Victoria's Secret gig for 2017 on social media back in August.
Taking to Instagram at the time, she had written alongside a picture of her 2016 outfit, "Forever and ever and ever a dream come true to be asked back to the VS Show!!! Thank you my friends @ed_razek @10magazine @johndavidpfeiffer @monica.mitro for another unforgettable opportunity; every aspect makes me feel like a dreaming kid again."
With regard to her being a part of the much-anticipated show in China, Hadid, however, had been at the centre of some controversy back in September. A video posted by the part-Dutch model had sparked outrage for apparently "mocking" Asians in a "racist" video, with many of her Asian fans even warning her against coming to China.
Neither has Hadid mentioned the reason for her backing out of the show at the last moment, nor has the international brand addressed the drama yet.
While the girlfriend of singer Zayn Malik is definitely giving a miss to this year's VS show, fans can binge on her jaw-dropping pictures from the past:
