Shia LaBeouf has had a troubled past. As a child actor, LaBeouf basically grew up in front of the camera, and the pressures of maintaining a squeaky clean image proved too difficult for him. So, for many years, he succumbed to drugs and alcohol, but he always tried to seek help from professionals. Other than his time in rehab, he has also attended Alcoholics Anonymous meetings and relied on his fellow actors' support in his path to recovery.

Last year, LaBeouf credited the likes of Mel Gibson, Sean Penn, and Josh Brolin for helping him with his sobriety. During an interview, he credited his co-stars for keeping him alive. Other than his sobriety, LaBeouf also decided to convert to Catholicism after being inspired by Gibson's own religion and his journey to sobriety. However, all this changed on Tuesday after the former young actor once again made headlines.

Shia LaBeouf Altercation Videos

Videos of LaBeouf seemingly starting a fight at Mardi Gras in New Orleans became viral online. The clip shows an obviously intoxicated LaBeouf causing a scene at the popular event. Shortly after, two men started beating him up. Reports revealed that the actor went on a pub crawl in New Orleans, and he was later arrested and charged with battery for terrorising the city.

What Fans Have to Say

Fans and critics of LaBeouf became concerned with the behaviour that he exhibited during his latest outing. First, there are concerns about the actor's sobriety because he appeared drunk in the viral videos. 'Shia being wasted in different cities walking around club areas is not new, it has just been a while. He "terrorised" my city too lol. He usually does this alone without an entourage, so he is just a drunk with some fame and money and meets people while he explores', one person wrote.

'I always love telling the story about his arrest in Chicago for refusing to leave the Mag Mile Walgreens in the middle of the night. "Do you know who I am?!" "Yes. Please leave"', another person wrote.

Shia LaBeouf Explained 2017 Arrest

This is not the first time that LaBeouf was arrested by authorities. In 2017, the actor was in Georgia when he exhibited disorderly conduct whilst heavily intoxicated. Following his arrest, the actor was ordered to attend court-mandated treatment at a facility. Years later, LaBeouf was accused of sexual battery, assault, and infliction of emotional distress by FKA Twigs. He denied the allegations, and the case reached a settlement in 2025.

Previous reports revealed that LaBeouf turned to alcohol to help deal with his post-traumatic stress disorder that he suffered when he was just a child. The actor acknowledged the incident that happened in 2017, but he also tried to explain his side. LaBeouf claimed that he got into an altercation after some people started catcalling him and calling him a liberal for his political views.

Following the 2017 arrest, LaBeouf received treatment, and he vowed to himself that he would never touch alcohol again just as he mentioned in his 2019 interview. However, seven years later, it appears that alcohol has once again disrupted his sobriety, and he might need to seek professional help once more.
