'Trump's Health Seems Deeply Unwell': Fresh Video of President's Leg Tapping Triggers Online Debate

President Donald Trump prompted renewed online discussion about his health after footage showed him repeatedly patting his thigh as he left White House stage on Tuesday, 8 September 2026.

The 80-year-old president attended an event honouring the firefighters and first responders who died during the 11 September 2001 terrorist attacks even though the ceremony took place three days before the attacks' 25th anniversary.

As Trump walked away from the stage, he slapped his thigh at least seven times with his right hand, as the footage showed the movement but offered no medical explanation.

Online Commenters Question Repeated Thigh Patting

The gesture drew speculation on X. Liberal political commentator Vince Wilson wrote: 'Trump's health seems deeply unwell,' before adding that 'the American people deserve answers.'

Another user accused Trump of 'overdoing it on the thigh taps' and suggested he was trying 'to act like it is a normal thing.' These remarks represent the commenters' opinions and do not establish that Trump has a medical problem.

According to reports, Trump displayed similar behaviour the previous month. In the footage shared by influencer Molly Ploofkins, he appeared to pat the side of his leg while crossing an airport tarmac.

Ploofkins asked: 'Why is he always slapping his side now?' Separate footage shared by the official Rapid Response 47 account on X showed Trump moving slowly down the steps of Air Force One.

He descended several steps, tapped his leg twice, continued walking, then repeated a similar movement.

One X user responded by posting an AI-generated image depicting Trump descending the aircraft steps in a wheelchair. The image was not a genuine photograph and offered no evidence about the president's health.

Medical Claims Remain Unconfirmed Online Speculation

In mid-August, another X user described the leg tapping as a 'physical therapy technique.' The user shared a search result claiming therapists sometimes instruct patients to tap their legs to interrupt muscle-tension patterns associated with conditions such as stroke, brain injury or Parkinson's disease.

No medical evidence links Trump's movements to such a technique or to any neurological condition. No official confirmation exists that he has dementia, Parkinson's disease or another neurological disorder that would explain the tapping.

The videos alone do not establish a diagnosis. Claims connecting the movement to a specific condition should therefore be treated as unverified online speculation.

Earlier Photographs Show Bruising and Bandages

The discussion followed earlier attention surrounding marks visible on Trump's arms and hands. Around mid-August, he was photographed with a noticeable bruise on his forearm during the LIV Golf New York tournament at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster in New Jersey.

Other images from the event showed bruises and scrapes on his forearms, along with bandages around two fingers on his right hand.

Karoline Leavitt, then White House press secretary, who stepped down at the end of August, offered an explanation for the injuries. She said Trump meets and shakes hands with more Americans each day than any other president in history.

Trump separately attributed marks on his left hand to his daily aspirin use and his previously diagnosed chronic venous insufficiency. Reports said he takes aspirin to thin his blood.
