Overview

St Kitts and Nevis Patriots finally registered their first win of the tournament after beating St Lucia Zouks by 58 runs in their last game on 3 July. This win puts them third in the points table with two points from three games played.

The Patriots had Evin Lewis to thank on Sunday. The opening batsman smashed 73 runs off just 36 balls in a knock that included five huge hits over the fence. Crucial contributions from Lendl Simmons and Devon Thomas ensure that they reached 203, a total too high for the Zouks contingent to chase down.

Samuel Badree and Tabraiz Shamsi bowled intelligently and if the Patriots are to go far in the tournament, the duo will play a very important role. What will be of concern to skipper Faf du Plessis is the poor form of his key all-rounders — Thisara Perera and Carlos Brathwaite who have failed in all the three games so far.

With the team dependent on their star players to win games, du Plessis will be hoping that they start firing immediately.

The Barbados Tridents come into this clash having played only one game so far, which they lost to Trinbago Knight Riders on 1 July. The loss sees them currently at the bottom of the points table, but in fairness they are yet to get a run of games under their belt.

A line-up that includes AB de Villiers, Kieron Pollard and Shoaib Malik should be tough to beat with the crowds still waiting for de Villiers to fire. The Tridents will go into this clash knowing that their opponents despite the win are yet to settle into a rhythm.
