Stan Wawrinka takes on Kei Nishikori in the men's singles semi-final clash of the 2016 US Open on Friday (9 September).

Where to watch live

The match starts at 10pm BST. Live coverage of the game will be available in the UK on British Eurosport & Eurosport HD. Live scores and regular updates will be available on US Open's official website.

Overview

World number three Stan Wawrinka comes into this clash on the back of an impressive 7-6, 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Argentina's Juan Martin del Potro in the quarter-final of the ongoing 2016 US Open.

The Swiss who looked out of sorts in the earlier rounds showed once again why he is rated so highly, registering 53 winners to 45 unforced errors, a number he will look to improve upon on Friday.

A win here for Wawrinka will mean that it will be the first time that he has beaten a top-10 player this season. However, for that to happen he will need to ensure he is on top of his game.

His opponent on the day, Kei Nishikori will be full of confidence coming into this tie after emerging victorious over world number two Andy Murray in the quarter-final. Despite losing the first set, the Japanese born player roared back to eventually win 1-6, 6-4, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5.

The win over Murray at the ongoing US Open meant that Nishikori has registered multiple wins over the top-four quartet, something only a handful of players have achieved. That he hasn't won Grand Slam titles show that despite his talent he is inconsistent, something which he will try to work on come 9 September.
