Tim Tebow Pauses Life Surge Work After Sales Tactics Allegations

Tim Tebow is pausing his relationship with Life Surge after allegations about the Christian organisation's sales practices. Tebow, 39, told The Gainesville Sun on Friday that his team is conducting its own investigation.

Tebow said the allegations were 'extremely, extremely serious'. He said his team would investigate while he paused the relationship to learn more about the facts.

The development follows a 24 September investigation by Pablo Torre Finds Out and Mother Jones. The reporting examined Life Surge's events, sales practices, customer complaints and use of prominent Christian speakers.

Life Surge has disputed the allegations. The company says its programmes are voluntary and that it does not pressure customers into borrowing money they cannot afford.

Tebow's relationship with the organisation is significant because Life Surge identifies him as a 'Kingdom Ambassador'. He has also appeared as a featured speaker at its faith and finance events.

Why Tim Tebow Is Pausing His Life Surge Relationship

Tebow spoke to Gainesville-area media on Friday while in Florida for ESPN's SEC Nation. He was asked about the investigation and his connection to Life Surge.

'I think the allegations are extremely, extremely serious, and it's something that we take very seriously,' Tebow said.

'We're having our team do an investigation, but also pausing our relationship so we can learn more about the facts to be able to understand more.'

Tebow also described himself as being caught off guard by the allegations. He said his team briefed him while he was travelling to Alabama for an event.

'Honestly, I was at an anti-human trafficking conference yesterday, and the team shared with me when we were leaving as we were flying to Alabama for an event,' he said.

'Kind of caught off guard with some of it, and that's why we're trying to understand more of the facts to really learn it.'

His comments do not establish when he first became aware of complaints about Life Surge. He also did not announce that his relationship with the organisation had permanently ended.

Life Surge's current event programme identifies Tebow as a 'Kingdom Ambassador, Entrepreneur & Philanthropist'. Its website continues to list him among its prominent speakers.

The organisation's current schedule also lists a Life Surge event in Charlotte on 10 October. Tebow is among the speakers identified in Life Surge's current promotional material.

The investigation has raised questions about the sales process attached to some Life Surge events. It does not establish that Tebow personally committed fraud or knowingly participated in unlawful conduct.

What The Life Surge Investigation Alleges

The investigation examined how Life Surge combines Christian teaching with business, investing and financial stewardship.

According to the reporting, attendees can move from relatively inexpensive events to additional financial education programmes. Former customers interviewed by Mother Jones described parts of the sales process as high-pressure.

The investigation included complaints submitted to the Federal Trade Commission. It also examined customer accounts involving credit cards, home-equity borrowing and expensive educational programmes.

Life Surge disputes the characterisation of those practices.

In a statement published by Pablo Torre, the company said its events can generally be attended for $20 or less. It said its $97 Impact Class is optional.

Life Surge also said fewer than 3% of its ticket purchasers enrol in advanced training beyond the Impact Class. It said a multi-year programme can cost about $27,000 over three years.

The company said it does not train representatives to pressure customers into borrowing or taking on debt they cannot afford. It also said it does not use religious faith, fear or spiritual beliefs to pressure people into purchases.

Life Surge further said its headline speakers are not asked to endorse Impact Classes or advanced training programmes. It said Tebow's compensation is not tied to sales of educational products.

The investigation nevertheless reported a 2023 recording involving Tebow. In the recording, he told attendees that many had probably signed up for classes and encouraged them to 'follow through on that commitment' and 'finish strong'.

That recording does not, by itself, establish that Tebow knew about the sales practices described by former customers. It does show that he referred to attendees signing up for classes during a Life Surge event.

The investigation also reported that Tebow appeared at 10 Life Surge events in both 2024 and 2025. It said he was on pace to appear at 20 events in 2026.

Pablo Torre reported that Tebow's fee was between $50,000 and $100,000 per appearance. Life Surge declined to confirm that figure.

The reported figures were used by Mother Jones to estimate that Tebow could have received between $2 million and $4 million from Life Surge appearances. That estimate depends on the reported fee and number of appearances.

Life Surge has featured other prominent speakers, including athletes, entertainers, business figures and Christian leaders. Its current materials describe the events as combining worship, wisdom, work and wealth.

For Tebow, the stated purpose of his involvement has been connected to his Christian faith. He said he wanted to share what he believes and understand the allegations before deciding what happens next.

'It's really important to get answers to understand every bit of that,' Tebow said.

'In my heart, getting to share [at Life Surge] was to be able to share something that I love to share, which is the love of Christ and the good news of the gospel.'

He added: 'I think it's really important that we can really understand all the facts and details of it.'

For now, Tebow's relationship with Life Surge is paused. His team is reviewing the allegations, while Life Surge continues to dispute claims about its sales practices.

The available evidence does not establish that Tebow knew about or participated in unlawful conduct. Any further conclusions will depend on the findings of Tebow's review and any additional evidence that emerges.
