Even as Transformers 5 is scheduled to premiere in 2017, here is some good news for fans. Writer Akiva Goldsman has shared some new updates about the progress of the script of the fifth edition in the highly popular live action thriller series.

Speculations are high that Transformers 5 will explore the mythology of the robotic saviour Optimus Prime and his herd of Autobots. However, Goldsman, has now hinted that his team is working on the script and that he feels the "interaction between the two species is something great".

"Do I think Transformers can live without humans? Sure. Do I think humans can live without Transformers? Sure," he told IGN. "In Transformers movies? Sure! But, fundamentally, there seems to be something really great about the interaction between the two species. I think that, in the main, I would suggest that that would be something you wouldn't want to squander. Although that doesn't mean that you couldn't do all sorts of things for a little while."

The Hollywood writer also shared his views on the cinematic universe in the world of Transformers. "Our hope is that they are all interconnected and of course standalone, right? I think architecturally, the best — I think I believe this — the best serialized storytelling has integrity from start to finish of the episode, whether it be TV or a movie or comic book or novel series or short story series. You want to be able to satisfy both appetites — which I think is very different from procedural or episodic. You want to feed the instinct for the short-term gratification and the longterm gratification. So we're trying to do both," he said.

Paramount Pictures have kept the plot of the movie a secret, but the lead writer has hinted that the upcoming movie will follow the mythology of the robots including the backstory of Optimus Prime and his troop of Autobots and Decepticons from the universe of the Hasbro toys.

Michael Bay will return to direct the highly next film of the successful franchise. Confirming the news president of Hasbro Studios, Stephen Davis, said: "You're going to see a new Transformers movie coming from Hasbro and Paramount and Michael Bay and our other partners." [Via Crossmap]
