Trump, Mar-a-Lago, Prince Andrew: What the Fresh Epstein Files Actually Say (And What They Don't)
Audio tapes recorded by author Michael Wolff capture Epstein boasting, 'I was Donald Trump's closest friend for 10 years'

The US Justice Department's latest release of Epstein files, totalling over three million documents, photos and videos, examines Jeffrey Epstein's links to prominent figures like US President Donald Trump and Britain's Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, formerly known as Prince Andrew. While Trump is mentioned thousands of times, mostly in news articles and indirect emails, officials confirm no basis for prosecution.
The documents reveal Mar-a-Lago's role in victim recruitment and fresh allegations against Mountbatten-Windsor, but stop short of new revelations. The release, coming more than a month after the initial obligation, has sparked renewed debate on transparency.
Trump and Epstein: A Fractured Friendship
The files include emails from Epstein criticising Trump's business practices as 'dirty' and claiming he 'knew about the girls' without specifying details. In one 2019 message, Epstein noted a victim worked at Mar-a-Lago, adding Trump asked Maxwell to stop recruiting there.
Audio tapes recorded by author Michael Wolff capture Epstein boasting, 'I was Donald Trump's closest friend for 10 years,' and alleging salacious personal details, such as Trump first sleeping with Melania on Epstein's plane. Trump's name also appears seven times in Epstein's flight logs, though not to the infamous island.
However, what the files don't show is any direct communication between Trump and Epstein in later years, supporting Trump's claim of banning Epstein from Mar-a-Lago after learning of his activities. DOJ Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche stated, 'There was nothing in there that allowed us to prosecute anybody.' This underscores the peripheral nature of Trump's mentions, often in gossip or unrelated contexts.
Mar-a-Lago Connections Uncovered
Mar-a-Lago features prominently in the Epstein files as the location where Virginia Giuffre, a key accuser who died in 2025, was recruited while working as a spa attendant. Documents describe Maxwell approaching Giuffre at the resort, leading to her involvement with Epstein.
One FBI interview notes Giuffre being given a tour of Mar-a-Lago by Trump, alongside Epstein and Maxwell, though she clarified nothing untoward occurred with Trump. Another witness recalled driving Maxwell to Mar-a-Lago where she approached a girl. Other accounts mention Trump visiting Epstein's home, and Epstein considering contacting Trump about Giuffre's allegations in 2011. Yet, the files lack evidence of Trump's awareness or participation in Epstein's crimes at the time.
As one Instagram post highlighted, over 38,000 references to Trump and Mar-a-Lago appear, but none indicate direct complicity. This paints Mar-a-Lago as a tangential hub rather than a central scene of misconduct.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in the Spotlight
The fresh Epstein files include photographs of Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor in compromising positions, such as kneeling over a woman, and emails showing ongoing contact post-allegations. Epstein proposed introducing Mountbatten-Windsor to a Russian woman in 2010, and the former prince invited Epstein to Buckingham Palace. Giuffre's accounts detail alleged sexual encounters in several locations, which Mountbatten-Windsor denies.
Notably, the files reference his 2022 settlement with Giuffre for an estimated £12 million ($16.3 million), funded partly by family loans. What remains absent is conclusive proof beyond Giuffre's testimony, though the images add to the scrutiny.
As of 3 February 2026, the Epstein files have reignited public interest without yielding new legal actions. Trump and Mountbatten-Windsor maintain their denials, while the documents underscore Epstein's web of influence. The releases, mandated by a 2025 bill, may mark the end of major disclosures, leaving questions about accountability among the powerful.
