Jerry Seinfeld: A clip of his American sitcom Seinfeld has seen a spike in popularity since tension in Ukraine escalated Reuters

A classic Seinfeld clip that describes Ukraine as "weak" and "feeble" has seen a surge in popularity since the unfolding crisis escalated.

The clip features characters George Costanza and Cosmo Kramer playing a game of Risk on New York's subway when Kramer reveals his intention to "invade" Ukraine.

In the scene Kramer says: "You know what the Ukraine is? It's a sitting duck, a road apple, Newman. The Ukraine is weak, it's feeble."

Its popularity started to rise in November, when President Yanukovych's cabinet abandoned an agreement on closer trade ties with EU and instead sought closer ties with Russia.

The move drew 100,000 protesters to demonstrate in the captial, Kiev.

The number of viewers spiked during January and February when the Ukrainian parliament passed restrictive anti-protest laws and snipers opened fired on protesters, killing dozens.
