HTC Vive VR Test
Atlas getting prepped for dissection 'for science'. Steam / Valve Corporation

Valve has announced it will release a Portal-inspired "compilation of virtual reality (VR) experiments" called The Lab this Spring, and will announce further details during the 2016 Game Developers Conference (GDC) in San Francisco.

Although Valve has not revealed specific details yet, they have said players will be able to experience "multiple ways to enjoy room-scale VR" with the software, which will likely be exclusive to the HTC Vive, which Valve helped develop with HTC.

The HTC Vive is set to begin shipping in April for £689 ($899.00, €899.00). Despite its lofty price tag, the HTC sold 15,000 headsets in less than 10 minutes of opening up pre-orders. Its rival, Oculus Rift, will start shipping from 28 March for £499. The Lab will be released for free on Steam this spring.
