Robin van Persie is continuing his amazing campaign for the season even as the Arsenal became the first English club to enter the knockout phases of the Champions League.

The Gunners have defeated Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at the Emirates stadium in London. Both the goals came from Van Persie who took his total for the year to 38 in 41 matches.

The Dutch striker scored on 48 and 86 minutes whereas the Germans managed to return the compliment only once, that too in the injury time, through Shinji Kagawa.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger said: "Robin is in a period where he doesn't have to look for goals. They just come naturally for him. He's always in the right place at the right moment. He got two goals from positions where it looks easy but it's not - it's because he understands the game so well."

"The level has gone up a lot. You never win an easy game in the Champions League," he added.
