Drake's Fear of Missing Out Lives Up to Its Name After the Rapper Makes His Hour-Long Film Private

Drake set his new film Fear of Missing Out to private on YouTube shortly after its debut on Tuesday 15 September. A private video plays only for the account that owns it. The setting blocks anyone who missed the livestream. Those fans cannot watch the hour-long film or its new songs on his channel.

At the film's Toronto premiere, Drake also confirmed a world tour. His plans include a North American leg, his first tour there since 2023, although he has not yet announced dates or venues. 'We'll be out in 2027 to see everybody again across the world,' he said, according to Rolling Stone Canada.

New Songs, Guest Stars, and a Crown Ring

Drake's film premiered Tuesday night as a livestream on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Music. Videos for his recent tracks sat between short comic scenes. He debuted new songs with three guest artists: the rappers Don Toliver and Yeat, and the singer PartyNextDoor. Another scene featured his own take on the country singer Ella Langley's 'Choosin' Texas'. Drake and Toliver's track, 'Cold Shoulder', received extended screen time after the pair shared a stage in August.

Famous faces and hometown scenes filled the rest of the hour. Basketball star Kevin Durant, rapper Sexyy Red, model Winnie Harlow, and Sandra Graham, Drake's mother, all made appearances. In an Iron Man suit, Drake walked through the Canadian National Exhibition, Toronto's summer fair. At one point, he appeared to show a $1M (about £745,000) crown ring that Tupac Shakur once owned and Drake bought at auction in 2023. The finale placed Drake on a replica 'Hotline Bling' set.

How Drake Teased the Project Before Release

The rollout began a month earlier on Instagram. On 12 August, Drake posted old family photos captioned with the title's initials and 2026. A later post showed a compact disc case carrying the full title. Followers guessed at an album, a tour, or a documentary until 12 September, when he confirmed a film. On 14 September, he called the project self-funded and said it tells a story about making the most of one summer.

Jamaican singer Spice congratulated Drake in an Instagram post and praised the hard work and passion behind the film. Viewers who missed the stream can still find short clips that other users posted to X, although the official upload stayed private after the premiere. Drake has not explained why he restricted the video. He also has not announced a return to YouTube or a release on another service.

What Remains Unclear After the Premiere

Fans now face two practical questions. Drake has confirmed only the tour's year, so ticket buyers still lack the cities, dates, and prices they need to plan a trip. He has also given no release date for the new collaborations that debuted in the film.

This project capped a crowded year for the Toronto rapper. He released three albums, Iceman, Habibti, and Maid of Honour, on a single day, 15 May. Before the film's release, Drake wrote on Instagram that people keep saying his genre is dying and that nobody is watching.
