Whitney Houston's family and friends broke into tears as her coffin was carried away by the pallbearers after the funeral service at the New Hope Baptist Church in Newark, New Jersey.

Houston's life was remembered in songs and speeches by the who's who of the pop, soul and R&B music during the service. The funeral service began with the singing of the gospel choir, the members of the choir swaying and clapping along.

Houston's cousin Dionne Warwick introduced the speakers and singers, bringing alive the memories of Whitney Houston in between.

Singer Ray J was seen breaking down as the pallbearer paced away with Houston's coffin at the end of the ceremony.

Whitney Houston's mother Cissy Houston was held by two women as she walked behind the casket wailing, "My baby! My baby!".

Houston's 18-year old daughter Bobbi Kristina was crying uncontrollably a few steps behind and was seen comforted by Houston's close friend, Ray J.

The gold and silver casket was led out of the church as the inimitable voice of Houston reverberated through the church hall with her evergreen song "I Will Always Love You".
