A woman has died after being struck by a van as she chased her dog on a motorway.
The 66-year-old was hit by a Ford Transit van on the M4 near Cardiff at about 6.15pm on Friday (7 April) evening.
South Wales Police reported that she followed the family pet when it ran onto the busy carriageway.
She was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's family have been informed.
The affected stretch of the M4 near Cardiff was closed for five hours following the incident, Sky News reports.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to contact 101.
