The X Factor 2016
Honey G lasted eight weeks in the competition but was no match for 5 After Midnight ITV/The X Factor

Things are getting serious on The X Factor this week because it is finally the Semi Finals. Many fans of the show let out a sigh of relief when the controversial rapper Honey G was voted off.

It's about to get down to business as Simon Cowell, Nicole Scherzinger, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh try and find a successor to last year's super-talented winner, Louisa Johnson.

The lucky four acts are now down to Emily Middlemas, 5 After Midnight, Matt Terry and Saara Aalto as they take to the stage once again to perform Christmas songs. The atmosphere is set to be merry as the remaining contestants make the viewing public feel festive, and Dermot O'Leary will be on hand to host the show and keep everything in line yet again.

But Sunday's results show will no doubt bring one act some bad news this Christmas as they'll get sent home at the final hurdle – thought of as the worst week to get booted off. They'll sing two songs each to get themselves into the final held at Wembley Arena next week, so look away now if you don't want to know what they are.

Matt Terry

Silent Night
Jessie Ware - Say You Love Me

Emily Middlemas

John Lennon - War is Over
Gary Jules - Mad World

Saara Aalto

Mariah Carey - All I Want For Christmas is You
Sia - Chandelier

5 After Midnight

The X Factor will air live on ITV tonight (3 December) at 8pm and Sunday night's results show will also air at 8pm and feature some show-stopping performances from the likes of Lady Gaga and Zara Larsson.
