Sony's current Xperia Z2 tablet might not be a popular product if we go by the sales figures, but that doesn't deter the company from focussing more on the tablet segment.

A new disclosure suggests that the company's next Xperia series tablet, known as Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, is expected to be a high-end device.

Android Origin has been tipped by an insider, who claims that the new Xperia tablet will sport an 8in full HD IPS display with resolution measuring 1920 x 1080 pixels. Additionally, Sony's TRILUMINOS display technology and X-Reality picture processing engine along with anti-reflection coating will be on board.

In terms of processing power, Sony is expected to use the Snapdragon 801 chip inside the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, like the Xperia Z2 Tablet. However, the key difference is the former will use the higher-clocked variant of the Snapdragon 801 chip, MSM8974AC, which is the same chip that is said to be powering upcoming Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact. The MSM8974AC variant will also incorporate 3GB RAM.

Like the company's other high-end products, the Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact will be resistant to dust and water. Among other key elements are an eight megapixel Exmor RS camera, LTE connectivity, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0 and battery of 4500-5000mAh.

Besides, the tablet will also come with some interesting accessories as well as productivity features.

The Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact is expected to make an international debut at Sony's press conference, scheduled on 5 September at the IFA 2014 in Berlin.

The photo shows a tablet, which might be Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, and Sony's new smartwatch. Although the screenshot does not reveal any technical details of the products, it suggests that both the devices are expected to be water-resistant, as the screenshot shows someone by a poolside.
