1 person has died and 9 others injured after a four-vehicle pile-up on the eastbound stretch of the A69 in Northumberland Google Streetview

One person has died and nine people have been injured in a four vehicle collision on the A69. The crash, involving three cars and a van, occurred at 9.55am this morning (3 September) between Haydon Bridge and Bardon Mill.

An emergency response team, including an air ambulance, arrived at the scene to attend to casualties who were transported to hospital.

The road was closed in both directions and re-opened around 6.30pm this evening after an investigation into the collision, Mail Online reports.

Highways England posted an update writing at 6.34pm: "The A69 is fully re-opened in both directions between the A6079 west of Hexham and the junction with the A6071 near Brampton after completion of Northumberland Police collision investigation work."
