Amazon has predicted 2014 will be its busiest Christmas yet having seen sales grow fivefold over the last five years, with deals on music, films, TV shows, fitness trackers, video games and eBooks for newly received Kindle e-readers and Fire tablets.

The Boxing Day sale on Amazon.co.uk will begin a day early at 4pm on 25 December due to customer demand.

The sales will run until 11.30pm on 31 December 2014 and will include Amazon's own products like Kindle Fire HDX tablets, Fire TV and Kindle books, as well as offers on smartwatches, fitness trackers, laptops, bluetooth speakers and electric toothbrushes.

Christmas Day is expected to be the busiest day ever for digital sales for the online retailer, topping Christmas Day 2013. Orders for digital books, music, television, films and video games are expected to peak at 12.26pm, according to Amazon.

"Christmas Day is our biggest day of the year for downloads of books, apps, music, films and TV shows as people look to enjoy the new devices they have received on Christmas morning," said Christopher North, managing director at Amazon.co.uk.

"By the evening customers are ready to get a head start on their sales shopping with everything from homeware to fashion to big ticket technology proving popular."
