French carrier SFR has confirmed that the highly-anticipated Android 4.4 KitKat update will be rolling out for Galaxy S4 and Note 3 between late January and early February 2014.

The carrier has a credible track record of predicting previous Android 4.3 updates with precision, even before Samsung made official announcements.

Android 4.4 KitKat Release Confirmed for Galaxy S4 and Note 3
Galaxy S4 and Note 3 to get Android 4.4 update by early 2014

With Samsung keeping silent on the Android 4.4 release dates for its flagship phones, several rumours point to the existing pattern of KitKat release dates for Google's Nexus devices, Google Play devices and the Moto X. Not to mention, the HTC One is also scheduled to get its official Android 4.4 KitKat update by the end of January.

If the past is any indication, the Galaxy Note 3 is likely to receive the KitKat update first, followed by the Galaxy S4. Now the French carrier SFR has reassured that Android 4.4 KitKat is indeed coming for Galaxy S4 and Note 3 in early 2014.

Except for SFR, no other carriers have revealed any details as they typically announce their software update releases just a few days before the actual release date.

The Google Play Edition (GPE) of Galaxy S4 and Sony Z Ultra recently received the latest Android 4.4.2 update with a handful of tweaks and performance enhancements. With lesser known non-GPE devices like LG G2 joining the fray with Android 4.4 update, there seems little scope for delaying the KitKat release for Samsung's flagship phones.
