Arsenal came back from 4-0 down to beat Reading 7-5 after extra time, in a game that had everything you could ask for, especially goals.

Jason Roberts, Laurent Koscielny's own goal, Mikele Leigertwood and Noel Hunt had given Reading a huge lead, as the Royals looked to be well on their way to claiming their first ever victory over the Gunners. But Arsenal scorers Theo Walcott, Olivier Giroud and Laurent Koscielny reduced the gap to just one goal, before a very late strike in the fifth minute of added time from Walcott brought the game into extra time.

The further 30 minutes provided more drama as Marouane Chamakh's goal was cancelled out by Pavel Pogrebnyak's header, before Walcott completed his hat trick and Chamakh bagged another goal to send Arsenal through to the quarter finals.

Amid that frankly ridiculous score-line were other shock results in the tournament, as Leeds beat Southampton 3-0, Middlesbrough won 1-0 at Sunderland, Aston Villa beat Swindon 3-2 and Bradford beat Wigan on penalties after the game ended goalless.

Hopefully tonight's Capital One Cup matches will be just as exciting as Chelsea host Manchester United for the second time this week, Liverpool play Swansea and Norwich take on Tottenham.
