Last season's finalists Arsenal went out of the Carling Cup in the quarterfinals against Manchester City, with Sergio Aguero's late goal proving the difference.

It was a much changed Arsenal side that faced City, but the Gunners can consider themselves unlucky. In the first half, Arsene Wenger's side looked more threatening with City keeper Costel Pantilimon doing well to deny Park Chu-Young from close range before keeping out Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain's effort from distance.

City boss Roberto Mancini brought on Sergio Aguero in as early as the 30th minute, for Alexander Kolarov, and it eventually proved the difference, with the Argentinian grabbing the winner late in the second half in a swift City counter attack.

City are now unbeaten in their domestic season, although this match could well have gone the other way.
